On March 20, 2018, the School of Computer Science and Software Engineering carried out a construction plan meeting for the Institute of Artificial Intelligence, a non-physical unit research institute. The participants of the meeting included Academician Jifeng He, Prof. Changbo Wang, Prof. Hongyuan Zha， Prof. Shiliang Sun and other faculty in the field of artificial intelligence related research. The meeting mainly focused on the orientation of the research institute, the research direction and the supporting resources.

The Institute of Artificial Intelligence is positioned in the field of artificial intelligence and frontier research, focusing on artificial intelligence theory, artificial intelligence algorithms, artificial intelligence applications, etc., especially for uncertain artificial intelligence, pattern recognition and machine learning, and optimization methods. The Institute would promote the application of artificial intelligence in smart medical, education, industrial control and other fields. 

The Institute will be a platform that provides incremental training for teachers. School faculty could get more resources, information and possibilities through the Institute's platforms.
