On October 16th, 2017, Professor Qiang Tang, a well-known expert in the field of password and security, visited our school at the invitation of Prof. Zhenfu Cao.
Prof. Qiang Tang was a senior researcher at the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology. His research interests were mainly in applying the results of theoretical cryptography and security privacy technology to the real world such as cloud computing, big data, financial technology, and Internet of Things applications. More than 150 academic papers were published in authoritative journals and conferences of the international password and security field.
During the visit, Prof. Qiang Tang gave a wonderful report entitled “Privacy Issues in Recommender Systems”. In the report, Prof. Tang introduced the matrix decomposition (MF) method and the full homomorphic encryption (FHE) method for solving the privacy protection problem in the recommendation system.
Prof. Jifeng He, the dean of the School of Computer Science and Software Engineering, and the Executive Vice President, Professor Changbo Wang, also had an one-hour-long discussion with Professor Tang. They exchanged ideas on cooperative research, co-hosting conferences, academic exchanges and personnel training.
